Happy Birthday

Hello and welcome. Its that time of month for me to show you my inspiration for this months theme at Country View Crafts which is chosen for us by the lovely Monika, and she chose Happy Birthday. So come on get those cards made and enter them into the challenge for a chance to win £20 off your order and a wonderful badge to display proudly on your own blog.

So as you know I love to make cards and use several methods. For this one I chose a mix of watercolour and digital with a sentiment cut on the cricket Joy.

Recently I have been creating flowers for a digital assets pack which enable you to create your own cards, invitations, and stationary, as well as anything digital, in fact the possibilities are endless. The inspiration for these flowers and colours came from a friend who asked me to design an image to sublimate onto a mug and coaster for her mum, (which is completed). I liked the flowers and foliage I created and so set about recreating them individually as larger digital files with the idea others ma also like them.

It was with this mind that inspired the card. I cannot get into my studio currently due to having visitors as it doubles up as a spare bedroom occasionally when the other spare room is full. So I sat up on my dining and played with a new gouache set I recently purchased, although you could easily use any water based ink or paint such as Rangers sprays or even in pencil, any medium would work.

So I painted several very simple flowers which aren’t particularly based on a real flower. I started by painting in water and then adding the pigment, which spreads along the painted water and blends beautifully.

You can just see the water lines above.

Once these were dry I took photos of them and and then uploaded them to my iPad in procreate . I removed the background leaving just the flowers and then combined them with some foliage I had prepared earlier. I tidied any parts I was happy with and arranged the composition into something I was happy with.

I changed the background colour to suit and then printed it onto printable watercolour paper.

Next in Design Space, I added a sentiment and found some sparkly card to use for the cut out sentiment, which I used the joy to complete. (I love that machine). I also used the same sparkly card for the matt layer of the card. I adhered everything together and decided not to add beads to this one as I felt there was enough sparkle.

Let’s take a last look

Thanks for visiting and ill see you all soon

Hugs
