Hello everyone, its my second post for this month for Country View Crafts and I have a shaker birthday card for you. I was really stuck this year for a card for my granddaughter, she is at such an awkward age, you 11 going 30 type of thing lol. anyway I settled on a shaker card for two reasons, 1 she’s never had one before and 2 I’ve never successfully made one before. so here it is.
So I started with a cake design I created a few months ago for a different project. I made a few alterations and then printed it out on to medium weight card stock and cut it to size. I used a watercolour card blank I purchased from the SAA an online artists community. They are fabulous as you get everything you need, the card, the mount, envelope and watercolour paper on which to paint. It enables you to send an a5 image ready mounted as a card which can be used in frame as well. So the cake!
I next cut a piece of acetate to fit the mount of the card and attached it to the back of the mount. I then used double sided foam tape on the inside of the opening, as this would give the sequins room to move. I did the same on the outside of the Fram as that kept the backing sheet i.e. cake image nice and flat.
initially I added too many sequins but it was soon rectified. I was pleased with its shakablity.
Lastly I cut the sentiment and her name using my Cricut Joy and smart glitter vinyl and added some gems to complicate the rest of the card. for once this looks much better in the flesh than the photos can do credit.
I hope you have been inspired by this months theme and have joined in with the challenge.
see you soon
hugs
